SNOW!!

So early this morning it started snowing...and didn't stop! It was so exciting. I went to work and Drake got to stay home from school today. Nothing like a snow day from school. From the looks of it they wont be going back to school until after winter break. Anyway, we seized the moment and went out to play for a bit...

Drake's new favorite thing is...

ROCK CLIMBING!!

A friend of mine told me about the rock gym in down town Olympia and I decided to take Drake one day when they got out of school early. He spent 3 hours climbing! Going up, hanging, then coming down...for 3 solid hours! Drake has made the executive decision to have his birthday there. For the last few weeks, we have gone every wednesday because school gets out early. Next thing to do is buy a membership.

Drake has started "bouldering" which is climbing the short wall without being tied on. The high walls you have to be tied on in order to climb. I think this Christmas he's getting his own harness and some climbing shoes. The Tony Hawks just aren't cutting it anymore.

Anyhow, he loves it and we wanted to share some pictures of him climbing. Hope you all love it!

Cider Mill!!

So, today after Drake got out of school we went and got his hair cut then went to Lattin's Cider Mill and Farm. This place is great! It's small, but they have all sorts of animals and they make their own apple cider there.

We started out looking at the animals...chickens, pecocks, pheasents, and goats of course. After that we went to the cider mill/store. The sell all sorts of ciders, jams, bbq sauce, and pastries. Drake had a blast and just HAD to look at the animals one more time before we left. I'm so happy the weather was beautiful today!

MY first day back in school...

so, monday was my turn to start school again. oh joy, oh joy! well, two days into it and i'm already not looking forward to my formatting class. i've never been a big fan of computer stuff. especially timed writings and timed tests...ick! spanish on the other hand is going to be fun. today our instructor brought in his conga and played it while we did the alphabet. kinda felt like kindergarten all over again! he's a great instructor, you can tell he really enjoys what he does. tonight is phlebotomy...i'm excited about that. i love drawing blood, don't ask why because i don't know :)

one thing that amazes me is the cost of books. it is ridiculous how much they are. sixty bucks for a tiny book...are you kidding me?! used it's still 40 smackers...insane! the thing that really gets me is when you go to sell them back you get a fraction of what you paid. i hang onto mine, they will come in handy again sometime...yay medical books! anywho....not much longer then i can graduate and start pecking away at my nursing pre-requesits!

First day of 1st grade!!

drake started first grade today...i can't believe it! he was so excited when he got up this morning. he got dressed right away and wouldn't eat his breakfast then stood by the front door for 45 minutes with his backpack on. what a goof. he had a great day and made a friend woohoo! the teacher has his desk surrounded by girls, he's not to big on that. i'm so excited that this year i will be able to take him to and from school and do the pta thing, should be interesting. well, here are some pictures of the first day...enjoy!

my little boy is starting 1st grade!!

wednesday september 3rd will be the first day of first grade! i can't believe it. kindergarten was kind of like the end of him being a little boy, now he's a big boy. no more "baby" type stuff :(

he has gotten pretty particular of certain clothing and school supply type things. the big purchase for this year was a pair of tony hawk (pro-skateboarder) shoes. he LOVES them! and of course we had to get a few other tony hawk things like shirts, pants and a hat. one can't have just the shoes ya know.

drake is also super excited that he gets to walk to school this year, with me or grandpa of course. i'm so blessed that my classes for fall quarter are from 10-12 mon-fri and two nights a week i go to class at 530. having it this way allows me to walk drake to and from school! i'm sooo excited since last year i hardly got to take him to school or pick him up.

Batman Part 3...

BATMAN PART 2....

last weekend grandma bought drake a batman costume. it's been such a hit I'm thinking of buying him more costumes at the store. he has been wearing the batman outfit anytime he can. i love it. he looks so cute running around the house with it on. the other night he had it on and fell asleep on the couch for a bit with it on. pictures to come....soon.

FISHING WITH FRIENDS!!

my friend audrey and i decided to take our boys to a park here that has a pond that is catch and release. it's only for kids which is really nice. this was an experience i doubt i will ever forget.

it all started with a lesson on how to bate a hook followed by a lesson on how to put a hook on the line. my dad is wonderful, he let us use his poles and net along with all the other fishing paraphenalia. by the time we got to the pond the boys were so excited they couldn't contain themselves. we got down to the dock with the other folks that were there, get the hooks ready then watch the boys attempt to cast. this was so cute. they wound up then let it go only for it to plop in the water right infront of them. they didn't give up though!

needless to say, our fishing trip came to an end about 15 minutes after we got there. so we went up to the park that is right by the pond. the boys had a great time. we didn't catch anything, but that's fine. a good time was had and that's what matters.

Tacoma Rainiers

On sunday i took my dad and drake to see a tacoma rainiers game. For those that don't know, the rainiers are the minor league team for the mariners. It was so much fun! Our union rep came in about a month ago and was giving away free tickets to the game. Drake had a great time. Everytime someone hit the ball he would throw his arms up and yell homerun. My dad and i had to teach him when to yell homerun. There were quite a few balls hit over the fence so when we left he wanted to go look for the balls so he could take one home.

This is definatly going to be something i do with drake alot more.

more summer fun!

it's been pretty hot lately, with the exception of today, so drake has been "swimming" in the hot tub. he's been doing this for the past 4 or 5 years and loves it. he informed us that he wants to take swimming lessons so we are looking into it. my great friend audrey and i took our boys to long lake a few weeks ago and they loved it. they even swam alone, with life jackets and us right next to them, but we didn't have to help! they are turning into such big boys. anyhow, here are some funny pictures of drake and his "swimming gear"....

No more training wheels!!

The day has finaly come, Drake can now ride a bike without training wheels!! One of his little pals who is younger can do it so I'm sure that had a hand in him finally doing it. He was a bit shakey at first, and it' been about a week or so of him getting on then getting frusterated and not wanting to do it anymore. He can only fall down so many times before he's had it with what he's doing.

I'm so proud of him. He had the biggest smile on his face. I will post some pictures soon.

happy 4th!!

so drake and i went to a friend of mines and bbq'ed with everyone. we had a great time eventhough drake got a burn on his finger from one of those party poppers, the thing that you pull the string and confetti flies out. so we moved on to sparklers, not good, he got another burn. he got over it quickly, but i told him no more firework type things. we moved on to roasting marshmallows and making a smore. you can never go wrong with that. the mosquitos came out so we decided to roast the mallow over the gas burner of the stove inside. this works really well :) all in all, it was a good day. after i was done at work that is. we were so stinking busy. and me being as gracefull as i am ended up spilling and entire pitcher of steamed half and half down the back of my pants. maybe i should get new glasses and things like that might not happen as much...naaa.

drakes birthday

it's hard to believe it's been 6 years since my baby was born. you know, people ask me what my favorite stage or age is. i tell them there isn't a favorite because with each age/stage comes something new, fun and exciting. i love each phase, some more then others :)

we went to the park, same one as for mothers day, for his party. the kids had a wonderful time. we thought for awhile there that the weather wasn't going to cooperate with us. but in the end it all worked out! my good friend heather made drakes cake. she is so talented. she make a cupcake cake with a volcano, crushed grahm crakers for sand, crushed oreos for dirt, blue and green food coloring in the coconut to make water and grass then put dinosaur figures on top! it was a hit with all the kids.

drake got some pretty fun gifts, my favorite is the incredible hulk operation game, his favorite is his indiana jones whip that make noise...of course. hope you enjoy the pictures!!
